Harley-Davidson Road
King
H-D’s 2010 Touring Road Kind has a number of new key features. It has a
tank console, a rubber-mounted Twin Cam 96 Engine, Chrome dual 2-1-2
Exhaust with tapered end caps, full-length floorboards for both driver
and passenger, ergonomic handlebar, GTX® Saddlebags, a one-piece, two-up
seat, new Helical-cut 5th Gear, a Lexan windshield, and optional TLE
sidecar.
HD Road King has two cylinders, in a patented Twin Cam 96® V-twin
engine. This is a 4-stroke, air-cooled, 4 valve arrangement, with 2
valves per cylinder in an OHV/Pushrod design. Engine displacement is
1584cc (96”); the engine is fuel-injected using Electronic Sequential
Port Fuel Injection. This system monitors all variables in the fuel/air
mixture and delivers precise amounts for optimum fuel efficiency. The
starter is electric, with a manual 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission.
The primary drive, in the rear wheel, is belt-driven. There is a chain
in the engine-transmission.
The Road King has gallon fuel capacity (it takes premium gas) and gets
54 mpg on the highway and 35 mpg in town.
Harley’s specially designed Heel and Toe Shifter comes standard with the
Road King. This feature allows the rider to place the feet more
comfortably; instead of riding with the toe beneath the controls, the
option of using the heel makes long rides easier on the legs and feet.
The wheels are made of aluminum and come standard with the Brembo® brake
system. This super-efficient Italian disc brake system features a dual
disc with a diameter of 11.5 inches and 4 fixed pistons in the front
wheel, and a similar design in the rear, with a slightly larger brake
rotor width. This provides a greater control and superior stopping
power. Suspension is a telescopic fork in front and a twin-sided swing
arm with two air-adjustable shocks in the rear. There is also a rear
adjustable rebound damping function.
Rider uses a one-piece leather seat (with room for two) with a seat
height of 27.3 inches making it easy to flat foot when stopped. The
tank-mounted indicator array features digital instrumentation, a clock,
trip odometer speedometer, fuel level warning gauge, and service
reminder.
Side cases, storage, helmet storage, all come standard. Harley-Davidson
provides a plethora of accessories; so, you can choose your base bike,
and then customize it to suit your needs.
