Kawasaki Concours Sport Touring

A sport touring bike is equally useful on the race course or cross country and the Kawasaki Concours covers this range as well as any. This bike has tremendous suspension, which gives a wide range of control over damping and rebound. The engine, 1352cc, is a very fast, very powerful, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, double overhead cam design, with 4 valves to each cylinder. The fuel system is digital fuel injection with 40mm throttle bodies; the ignition is a Transistor Controlled Breakerless Ignition (TCBI). The six-speed transmission features an overdrive feature that drops the rpms, so the engine doesn’t have to always run hard or at a high rpm, which extends engine life.

Final drive is a nearly maintenance-free Tetra-Lever shaft drive. The Concours suspension system uses an inverted fork in the front and an aluminum twin-sided swing arm in the back. The front fork has an adjustable pre-load with adjustable rebound damping with a front wheel travel of 4.4 inches. The rear monoshock has adjustable rebound damping as well as adjustable shock and spring pre-load. The rear wheel can travel 5.4 inches.

The brake system uses petal-shaped discs on both front and rear wheels. Petal disc brakes are lightweight and easier to keep clean than solid disc brakes. The front is a dual floating disc (310mm) and has 4-piston calipers, while the rear is a single, smaller (270mm) petal disc. According to Kawasaki, you can add an optional Anti-lock Braking System.

The Concours has a 5.8 gallon fuel capacity, a 32.1 inch seat height, and a 670.3 pound GVW.

More fairing equals greater comfort for driver and passenger. The addition of saddlebags makes it an excellent touring bike.
